No Beach Pictures Today

This is a pic of how my day started out on my jog up the hill to tapion. It was very peaceful , the craziest thing I saw was a guy in a santas hat leading 3 cows on a rope. Little did I know the hectic day that was in store. I am starting to act as my own interpreter on these outings.
Here is a look at what we saw much of the rest of the day.We needed to go to Port Au Prince to buy lumber. It is very expensive locally so we thought we could save a few dollars going to the city. After some hard barganing with some guys at a supply store we saved about $170 USD compared to local lumber.I think next time we could do better because the guys did not have the wood on hand. They took us to a wholesaler to get it. Next time we skip the middle man. An example of traffic on the street in PAP. These trucks were both moving!
A pic of City Soley (not sure of spelling) as we passed by. It looked like a big garbage dump.
Here is the whole sale place. It has a huge inventory of building supplies. Most of the work in getting something here is knowing where to find it at a good price. The places don`t send out flyers.
A pic of the van as it arrived back at Haiti Arise about 4 pm. Thanks to our driver Sterling and Marc Eddy for going with James and myself. It would be good to get a truck for Haiti Arise.Instead of raising funds for a helecoptor think dump truck. When we got back our cement had arrived and the team had poured about 300 feet of bond beam. Tommorrow will be spent forming.James and I are off to tuesday night church.
Bye for now,David and James

  1. Good pics! Perhaps your last run to Port au Prince for supplies. Glad to hear you made it safely back. Talk to you later...

  2. Good to hear from you today. Both Dad & I had our surgeries today. I'm doing quite well. Dad is still in the hospital. The damage to his back was apparently greater than first thought. They are making a brace for his bsck. Will know more in a few days.
He's on pain medication and says he isn't in too much pain at the moment, at least while he has the use of the pain pack.
I'm heading for bed now. I'm at Lisa's for a few more days. Good Night to both of you.
