Update on the wall

A look at the top of the stairwell being closed in at th roof.               progress on the wall

This is John Peter Gary. I helped him move blocks to the roof. The stairmaster has nothing on this. Most things here are done with brute strength. There wasn't as much progress today as the crew was not putting block on the wall. They were tying rebar and pouring the columns, putting the block upstairs and doing demolition on some of the wall. I had a chat with the block makers today. Lets just say that they needed some encouragement  Please pray for me to have patience.   There was a teachable moment when I did a slump test on the cement coming out of the mixer. The pics below show what it has been like(the one that is lying flat) and what it was like after I mixed a load to the proper specifications.(the stiffer mix).  I hope the crew will continue to mix it properly which is crucial to giving us a strong wall. I also put in a pic of James hard at work.He is practising his batting .  I hope you are not bored with all the construction details. It is what has been ocupying our time.     Love David and James

  1. James, were you batting cement or rocks? And what exactly were you using for a bat? It looks like you were having a bit of fun. I hope tomorrow you are able to find some interesting creatures in the blue with the goggles.
David, I knew your teaching skills and all the stuff with building would come in handy. Way to go! Keep on teaching!!!
I love you both and miss you much. It is great to see you on Skype-what a blessing.
I continue to pray for you, that God would surround you with his angels, that voodoo would have no strength, that you will have a restful sleep, and that God would continue to use you in Haiti. Love you tons,
    Beth

  3. It was great to see both of you and talk to you on Skype last night. Hope you are rested again James. It's a tremendous job that you're trying to do. It sounds like you're making progress even if at times I'm sure it doesn't feel like it. What a challenge. I'll send you an e-mail.
You are in our prayers. Doug's tooth is bothering him again today. Have a good day at the beach James. You certainly deserve some more time off!!!! Loved the tour of the building David.
I'd better get back to my life and pay attention to mundane things like house work and yard work etc.
    Love you both
