Election Fever

Greetings, I hope this finds you well.These past few weeks have been filled with the sights and sounds of a country getting ready to vote. As the election draws nearer the campaigning gets more passionate. Posters seem to be plastered on every square inch of buildings,fences,other signs. Even Haiti Arise has had there signage plastered with posters. Apparently once a poster is put up it is against the law to take it down no matter where it is placed. We saw a rally in the streets last night. It looked like a circus with many people who were shouting, marching, driving and honking ,singing and showing a passionate support for their candidate.The vote is on the 20th of March. 

Here on the campus the nurses have been busy helping the people of the community. They have been pouring themselves into seeing and treating many sick people.One day over 140 were patients were seen. The pic above shows the progress of our wall construction. Things have been halted for the last week, but maybe next week it will resume.

This was taken at one of the community houses that has recently been built. These guys are excited about moving from a tent to a house. We are in the process of doing the final electrical inspection on the houses as well as installing doors and windows.A new house will be started next week.

We were saddened to hear of  yesterdays earthquake. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan and those who were affected by it.
