Fun and Feasting

This morning started out with cleaning bathrooms to prepare for the group that is staying for one night. The group may be of interest to some of you football fans. I know this has been wasted on me as we have 8 CFL football players here. The player on the left thought we should pose as though he was going to tackle me.  Instead we decided on flexing our muscles-look how big mine are - two of my arms to one of theirs...

The group also consists of West Jet staff who provided Marc and Lisa, as well as several others, free flights between Canada and either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. West jet has provided 500 free flights in total for Haiti. There are also media people in the group from TSN, Regina Leader Post, and CKOM.

This afternon we had the time of our lives. Picture 8 Canadians mixed in with about 5000 Haitians. Dancing and Singing and even stopping traffic around Grand Goave. The march was a time for all the churches to come together to show the presence of Christians in the community.

The supper, that was prepared for us by the ladies, was over-the-top. A feast! The march may have taken a few pounds away but the supper put it right back on. Yummy!!!! Fried Chicken, Salad, Lobster, Lambi(from the conche shell), Lasagna, potatoes, veggies. We didn't eat the lambi or the lobster-we are beef people.

Tomorrow morning has expected challenges as we are expecting around 400 pastors, teachers, and leaders from Grand Goave, Petit Goave, and the surrounding mountains. They should start arriving around 7 am. There will be seminars all morning and then we will serve them lunch. They will come back again on tuesday for more seminars in which one of them will be taught by our very own, David. He will be giving some basic instruction on proper construction so that they can take the information back to share with others. There will also be seminars on earthquakes from a geologist, hygiene, leadership and spiritual.

It's hard to believe that we have been here just over a week. The days have been so packed full and the schedule would say that it will only get busier.
