As we walked the kids would run up and take our hands.  I think they like to touch our white skin.

We still have not felt any tremors.  Everyone appears well.  I think I am getting use to the heat, the shower is starting to feel cold.  This afternoon we were able to bless the people in the tent city with the hygiene bags, candy, and clothes.  It was quite an experience.  The kids are so excited when we were there.  They chased Travis across the field and back.  Pretty much swarmed him. I think he was in his glory.  No more energy drinks for Travis!!!

Thursday

Last night, God met us all in a powerful way.  God is so good.  "Missions is not only about helping others but also allowing God to do a work in us".  Today, God has shown us that He is all knowing.  We have worked so hard at the wall that the supplies have all been used. God provided us with funds above the amount for the rice feeding.  He knew we would need this today.  What an amazing God we serve.  We are heading back to the tent city this afternoon.  There is about 50 families living there.  Keep praying for the people of Haiti. 

I thought yesterday was hot but today was even hotter.  We just got back from giving out some of the toiletry bags and praying for the families.  They were all very grateful.  The children run over to us and hold our hands as we walk.  It was a great time of blessing for them as well as us.  We will be going back tomorrow to hand out the rest of the bags.  So far I haven't felt any aftershocks.  Keep praying that God will use us mightily.

Hot Hot Hot!!!

The blog won't post in the evening so I will try sending them in the morning.  Tuesday, March 16th: It is very very very hot here. It will be good when our bodies start to adjust. Our day today has been a full day. We awoke to roosters crowing and a donkey hollering. We were able to start on the wall today. Cement, shovels, rocks, sand, and rebar. Lots of rebar. There are a few sunburns (not too bad) and two people not feeling to well, but you need not worry, everyone is fine. We were able to be an encouragement to the Haitians we worked with and they were a definite encouragement to us. A lot of hard work today - the wall was going up at a good pace. I think I'll be a little sore tomorrow from shovelling gravel. We had the opportunity to play with some children this morning, which brought back a bit of the Creole from my last trip. I know so little Creole so it has been a joy for all of us to have Jean with us to help translate. Supper was wonderful. Fried Chicken. Vernon says he's bringing the cook back with him, it was that good. We went to the church service which was lively and a great time of worship. Jean made us all go to the front to sing a song in Creole. Many have vowed pay back.

We made it!

I tried to post last night but it would not go through.  So here it is...We arrived at Haiti Arise a little after 7 pm. For your reference: this is the same as Manitoba Time - 1 hour ahead of Saskatchewan. The journey from the time we left the plane until we arrived at the compound, was filled with laughter, tears, fatigue, and a sense of wonder. We all slept so little on the trip, between the floor of the Toronto Airport-the plane ride to Miami- the carpeted floor in the Miami airport-and finally the short plane ride to Haiti. I think it is safe to say we are all a bit tired and the day starts at about 6am tomorrow. Pray that we all sleep well tonight. Most of the team has gone to bed already.We are so blessed to have a team that can truly laugh together. You know the 'laugh till you shake and it hurts but you don't want to stop' type of laugh. From the tuna story (you will have to ask Jean for details) to pictures taken when certain members were sleeping.  My tears came when I seen the rubble and realized there were people laying under it. My heart went out to the people who walk by these sites everyday, in which there are many and many. The people of Haiti are so resilient. There is really not another word for it. I need to learn this from them. It was such a joy as we travelled through Port au Prince to see the children, smiling and calling out, "Hey You!" and waving to us. We even seen a few kites flying in the sky...the kids are starting to play.  Keep praying for our team. We will working on the compound wall tomorrow.

On Route

Just wanted you to know that we have made it to the Miami Airport.  We should be boarding in about an hour for Port au Prince.  We have had a little bit of sleep here and there.  Life is good.  God is great.  We were able to check all our bags in Toronto with no charge.  Plus we had an extra bag they passed through with no charge.  God is so Good.  Thank you for all your prayers.  They have been felt.  Keep praying.
